The Boulder City Bypass project is humming along a few days in ahead of schedule. Today they opened up the northbound segment coming out of Boulder City, heading to Las Vegas. Once you pass the Veterans Memorial Drive stoplights, it is open all the way to Las Vegas. The stoplights at Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino, as well as any traffic slowdowns resulting from the stoplight, are now gone!
The segment that passed in front of the Railroad Pass Casino will be used for the new Travel Plaza as well as additional parking for the resort.
The new Highway 95/Searchlight lane merges will be completed by the beginning of March. Leaving only the longest section from Highway 95 to The Mike O’Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge), left to complete and that’s expected to be finished by October. That will be the Nevada portion of the project. Arizona has yet to release details on their planned route for the Interstate from the Nevada border to Phoenix, Arizona or when they plan to begin.
Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona are the only two cities in the nation with populations more than one million people that are not currently linked by an interstate highway. Once constructed, the first phase of Interstate 11 will relieve congestion, improve safety and enhance travel and commerce between Arizona and Nevada. Construction of the project will create an estimated 4,000 direct and indirect and induced jobs in the region.
