Yes, I know. You probably already knew that. Anyway, here it is. All of the new Interstate 11/Boulder City Bypass is now open for your travel enjoyment! That’s right. Not a stoplight or left turn line to wait before moving forward anymore. From the historic Railroad Pass Hotel/casino and travel stop to The Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge), its clean shot. Just watch out for the Boulder City Police and the Nevada Highway Patrol. There are a few sweet spots for them to hide in and wait.
Now its time to wait for NDOT and Boulder City to get in the act and start turning on the road signs, get some better markings telling people there is actually a town “over there” they need to stop in and visit on their way to wherever it is they may be going!
Seeing how this all opened a few months ahead of schedule, I think it caught all the other people in the pipeline a little off guard and they fell behind on keeping up with everything. So it will take some time and coordination to get the little things like proper signage (and speed limits) put into proper place. However, it is a nice little roadway to travel on!
Waiting on Arizona
We got our side done. Arizona is still playing politics on their side. Probably waiting to see what elected official owns what parcels of land that they can use for their part of the Interstate into Phoenix. Thats the only excuse I can figure out on why they haven’t announced anything on their side and why we don’t see dirt moving when we cross into Arizona. They’ve had plenty of time to coordinate this and give some direction to the planning people!
Google and Waze Need to Talk
The two most popular navigation apps, both are owned by the same company, Alphabet, need to wake up and talk to each other. WAZE already had this roadway in their database before it even opened. Google Maps still shows it under construction and will take you through Boulder City.
Take the new road for a spin and let me know what you think of it!
