It always seems like it takes forever to get the foundation put in. But once that part is done, everything else just happens so quickly it seems. And that is how it is with the Boulder City Bypass project.
Once they got the mountain blasted away and the bridgework in place, suddenly things visibly change by the day. This video was shot about a week ago and I can tell you the construction site at the two ends don’t look this primitive today.
A new lane was carved out of the mountainside next to the Railroad Pass Casino and that has shifted northbound traffic over to the right. The railroad bridge is looking like it could soon have the tracks in place. Hoping for an excursion train that could bring tourists out from Las Vegas to Boulder City. The crossover for the River Loop Mountain Trail is in place and could be connected to the trails on either side of the highway here soon.
On the Hoover Dam side, the tunnels are in place and now work is commencing on the flyover that will take traffic coming from the Hoover Dam Bridge/Hwy 93, just before the Boulder City Parkway and put them onto the new Bypass.
I will try to do video updates on a regular basis. If you have video footage you want to be shown here, please let us know. If it’s on YouTube, we just need the URL.
